With hesitancy to ever say what a fanzine should or shouldn't be, Jack's Potion For Bad Dreams is exactly what a fanzine should be. Even in its excited spirit, it still remains critical. Even when given lackluster answers to interview questions, it makes the best of it. The art is everywhere: some hand drawn, some repurposed and all of it adds to the spirit. Sometimes it feels like the cut-n-paste sections of old graffiti magazines but without the graffiti. Other times like an insert to a demo. It's a little of column A and a little of column B and more than that. I cannot wait for issue #2 and issue #3, etc.
